| Alternative Approach to Allergies Randolph, Theorn H. From Library Journal The first edition of this book ( LJ 11/15/80) stated that allergies to common foods and substances (e.g., wheat, cooking gas) cause many physiological and emotional ailments, from arthritis to depression; it offered advice on diagnosing and counteracting one's own allergies. The second edition updates readers on new research and legislative and regulatory developments, and provides a review of the continuing controversy surrounding clinical ecology, the field which Randolph pioneered and which has not received mainstream medical acceptance. With the strong consumer interest in the environment and health, this would be a good selection for public libraries with subject demand, but unless the demand is very high, the first edition should suffice. - Judith Eannarino, George Washington Univ.
