Parenting ChallengesParenting is no easy task when we’re frustrated, tired, or angry, which happens to be often. Hey, we all make mistakes. Sometimes, words that are just plain wrong leap off our lips. These words do nothing to help the situation. They can be damaging to a child’s self-esteem. Don’t beat yourself up if you occasionally utter words like this, but try to eliminate them from your vocabulary. Better wording will reward positive behavior and respect children’s emotions. Instead of silencing youngster, these comments will encourage him to keep talking –and we could all use some help in that department. For resources and support on parenting attend the “Parenting Concerns” program at Tutu’s House on Monday, April 30th from 10-11:00 am, or at the Kohala Family Center on Thursday, April 19th, from Noon to 1:30 pm. See the Tutu’s House Ho'o Wala'au Newsletter for a complete program description. If you have questions about your health and wellness, the Internet and/or Internet research, please contact Joan Campbell, Health Maps Team Leader at Tutu's House or Tom Longwell, Health Maps Guide, 885-6777. Stop by or schedule an appointment today. There is no fee; donations accepted.
