 Mr. Mark Noetzel is a very
active swim coach. Mark swims
4 to 5 times a week, runs 3 times
a week, weightlifts 2 times a week,
plays tennis 2 to 3 times a week,
and walks 18 holes of golf whenever
he gets some free time. Wow! Mark
defines physical activity as "any kind
of sport workout".
Fortunatly you don't have to be an athlete like Mark to gain the benefits of physical activity.  The benefits of physical activity can be achieved by three 10 minute walks every day or a daily 30 minute walk. Start slow and don't over do it. Remember to have fun!
Thomas Avila is a 10th grade student
at Honokaa High School.  Thomas
enjoys golfing and hunting, which are
very fun forms of activity. Other
forms of physical activity he enjoys
are playing  sports or walking. Good
job Thomas! Your active lifestyle will
keep you young, healthy and happy.

Mrs. Kristine Kina'u Dahlquist is a

geometry and algebra teacher at

HPA. She thinks that physical activity

is fun  when it doesn't hurt or isn't

painfull. Mrs. Dahlquist says that

physical activity is something that will

get your body moving, anything that

makes you get up and do things besides

watching TV and being a couch potato.

Don't be a couch potato.  Get your body moving with some physical activity!
Seppe Wiesmueller is a sensei for an
international Karate league. He thinks
that physical activity is fun. For
physical activity, he likes to swim or
play at the beach or ride horses.
Seppe does physical activity because
it is good for his health and keeps
him in shape.

So have fun with physical activity!
Shigeru Fujimoto is one of the
school crossing guards at Honokaa
School. He once was an Aikido
instructor and also did Judo. Now
he is retired. He says that physical
activity should be fun; do something
you enjoy. Shigeru feels it is
important to exercise his mind
as well as his body.
Why not try walking to school, Aikido or Judo for physical activity.
Niki Nakagawa is a student at Waimea
Intermediate and Elementary School.
She is in 6th grade and likes to swim
and dance hula. She thinks physical
activity is fun when she is with friends
and likes the sport.

Pick a sport you like, do it with some
friends and get physically active today!
