Senior
Resources on the Net Watch
out! Senior “cybernauts” are coming on fast. Did you know that
individuals age 50 and older use the Internet as many hours a week as 19
to 25 year-olds? (Georgia Tech’s 1997 Seventh WWW User Survey) In
fact, Seniors gather at Tutu’s House in the Health Gateway area to learn
how to use the Internet and send e-mail. A
number of agencies and organizations have developed seniors’ health
Web sites. With the increasing need for high quality and local
information about aging, senior health and eldercare services, a few
healthcare providers have developed senior oriented features on the
Internet. Some of the sites listed below may help you find what you are
looking for. National
Institute on Aging (http://www.nih.gov/nial)

information and publications; booklets on NIA research, menopause
cardiovascular disease, and communications between patients and

extensive health coverage questions. Topics include: HMO, long term
care, Medicaid, Medicare, other insurance such as CHAMPUS, SSI, and home
health. Blue
