I just wanted you to know how appreciative I am that your Community Health Resource Center is available to draw upon.
Since moving here last year from CA – and not really knowing anyone here in the Islands nor having any relatives here; your organization has offered an invaluable opportunity for me to connect socially with others and participate in so many of the classes and groups venues you offer.
The topics are so interesting, diverse and helpful for body, mind, and spirit. Thanks to you as well as your teachers. I feel exuberant to join in each week. Mahalo,”

I was diagnosed with breast cancer 5 years ago. Unable to sleep from a medication side effect, I needed something quiet to do on those long nights. A gift of a Hawaiian Quilt pillow kit sat in my closet for more than 12 years and thought this was my answer and time to tackle this project. I walked into Tutu’s House and found a group of wonderful ladies willing to help. They were welcoming and shared their knowledge, encouragement and friendship! I was hooked and looked forward to each Monday of learning, laughter and aloha! Our group ranges in age from 12-94 but we all have the common love of creating something special in the tradition of old Hawaii. Each project is a treasure and celebrated!
Tutu’s House is more than just a place to meet; it’s a fellowship of wonderful people…from the staff, to the visitors & tourist and of course the local residents. Mahalo,”

I would like to thank you for the opportunity to share some knowledge and experience at Tutu’s House. Over the past few years we have made available several workshops:
– Genealogy and Family History
– Improving Your Photography
– Printing Your Own Book
– Marketing Yourself
– A Photographic Tour of Hawaii Island
Tutu’s is a very special place. It is a venue where the community can gather and support each other. For me, it is exhilarating. I almost feel guilty every time I present, as it gives me so much pleasure. I am neither unique nor more talented than others, but I do have the desire to share as best I can, the skills and passions developed through my professional career and my hobbies. Tutu’s makes all this possible.
The location and facility are great. By informing the community of the offered events, residents and visitors can choose to enrich their lives with the simple effort of appearing at the right time and place. Classes and activities can stimulate attendees to pursue their own dreams, take charge of their lives, or maybe move forward with one of their life-goals.
Tutu’s gives both the “teacher” and the “student” the means to interact, to learn, to encourage, and to support. Thank you for letting me be a part of the programs at Tutu’s and for the opportunity to give back to this community and its people a minuscule amount of what they have given me.”

My wife and I would like to have our thanks be known to staff and board members of Tutu’s House. We have been coming to the Big Island for years now and have used the services available on a regular basis.
I especially enjoy the aloha and welcoming experience offered by Auntie Margie Spencer’s ukulele classes. My wife participates in Yoga class offerings and other health related classes as well.
We value this wonderful community service and commend the staff for being so helpful and gracious. We come to Hawai‘i Island each year for extended stays, between two weeks to four months at a time. We intend to keep doing this as long as we can and would hope that Tutu’s House will be there to welcome us as they always do. We are residents of Yachats, Oregon. Big Mahalo from us,”

We are so grateful to be living in a Community where we have a wonderful resource like Tutu’s House. We are fortunate to have a community resource such as Tutu’s House, especially in these economic times, it is surely a great Mahalo Tutu’s House for all you do for the community, you are a wonderful resource.”

I have attended both the Beginner’s Yoga and Restorative Yoga classes over the last couple of weeks. Remarkably, I have found that the pain in my hips is already starting to disappear. The sessions are also very relaxing and very well led by the leaders. Thank you so much for these activities. They have been very beneficial for me.”

Thank you so much for providing a location in Waimea in which to hold the Hawaii Island Teen Court. Not only has participating in teen court given me a deeper understanding of human nature and individuals with lives vastly different than my own, but it helped me to receive scholarship money for college. I used the experience and insight I gained from teen court as the foundation for the essay that helped me to win The Cal Alumni Association Leadership Award. Thank you for all of your support throughout the last two years. The knowledge, speaking skills and recommendation letter that teen court gave me were monumental in getting me accepted to UC Berkeley and awarded the CAA Leadership Award. Mahalo nui loa,”
